Recently I started scrapbooking; made an album for my niece and a couple of mini albums and have a couple more in the idea stage. I have discovered a whole online world filled with scrapbook makers! Youtube has many hundreds of videos on how to create albums and pages and embellishments and all kinds of scrap-craft-book type stuff. A lot of the people who make the videos swap products and host giveaways and such; one of these people is a sweet gal named Robyn. twinchies exchange and a card

A card and twinchies made for an online artist friend, Milliande. She has a cool creativity club for women at http://milliande.ning.com; where there's lots to do and see and participate in for free! I used my handmade paper, a leaf, and a bit of hemp cord for this project. The beige paper is tea dyed, and left over from my tribute to leaves and Katie shown on http://artworksdaily.blogspot.com. I need to update that photo as I added quite a lot more to that piece.
"Twinchies" are 2"x2" works of art. These were made for an art exchange; I will be getting something in return, can't wait to see!

papermakin'

Working on recycled papermaking, some with flower/leaf inclusions. Some with boiled cattail seed and daylily leaves. What fun to boil and stir and pull sheets of lovely and interesting paper made from stuff I have right here! Recycled junk mail is the base for all my paper. The photos show a close-up of today's paper and several sheets drying on the glass door. There is some running and staining from the inclusions, but I can live with that.

A recycled magazine and water bottle vase I gave to my sis. I cut off the top of the water bottle and it is not glued in for easy removal/replacement. A quick and ez craft.

I have been exploring crafting with recycled materials for the past month and want to share some ideas I discovered on the web and in my head. Crafting is a satisfying pastime and using recycled materials makes it good for the planet and the wallet. It's also an opportunity to be creative and push some boundaries.

Today's post is about using magazines as a crafting material, which I found on a blog here.

How cool to use something that would ordinarily get tossed into

the trash; shiny magazines do not recycle. So I made

a couple of the baskets, and have ideas for some variations

I'd like to try. I also made a trivet out of some of the leftover coils. Aleen's "fast grab" tacky glue works quite well for these recycled magazine page projects.
